I have been tutoring and teaching since my Sophomore year in high school. At that time I was teaching English as a second language to a few foreigners who were visiting my school. Since that time, I've gone on to teach elementary level through high school children/teens in various subjects with the boys and girls clubs of america.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a Human Resources Manager for past 10 years. A good portion of my job is involved with training. While there are differences in training/teaching adults versus young adults and children, the basics are still the same. I have volunteered in the past as religious educator for children in first, second and fourth grade. I also did some volunteer tutoring over 8 years ago in Mississippi as I was involved with the local literacy council.
I like to make teaching fun. I pride myself on my ability to add fun through puzzles, arts and crafts, etc. and teach all at the same time. It is so rewarding when a child you are working with accomplishes what they may have though to be the impossible. I enjoy seeing expressions of accomplishment when students truly grasp various concepts. I expect and demand "excellence," recognizing that "excellence" is a term relative to the student. It seems to me that students retain information most successfully when it has been presented so as to be personally relevant, so I attempt to tailor examples to the student's background.

A Little Bit About Me...

I see teaching as a dialog between teacher and student and adjust the speed and depth of my teaching to best help the student succeed. Most importantly I want to the student to leave with a greater understanding of the subject than when they entered.
I taught recitation for Honors Differential Equations, Differential Equations, Calculus 3, Calculus 2 and Introduction to Computer Science as an undergraduate at Georgia Tech and physics and astronomy labs as a graduate student at the University of Tennessee.
