I have always loved to learn new things, and as a teenager wanted to be a teacher. I have a B.S. in Dietetics with a chemistry minor, as well as an M.B.A. My role as a dietitian requires the ability to teach all ages groups, with diverse backgrounds and educational levels. After completion of my MBA, I moved into a senior leadership role. In this position, I facilitated strategic planning sessions and tutored staff who were completing BS or MS degrees in English, sciences, quality, writing, and business classes.
In groups, I like to have many examples and participation from the audience. As a manager and mentor, I also prefer to teach a concept and return to it when the student has an opportunity to use it in their work. It is important to be able to adjust your teaching style to the needs of the student, and I love the challenge of being able to do this.

I love mentoring staff / students. I find it very rewarding when the "light bulbs" start to go off with staff / students with respect to any topic. My style involves getting to know exactly where the individual is at relating to an area of study. I believe the student should be in control of the thought and learning process. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate of Western Michigan University with multiple degrees in accounting. I have extensive knowledge of journal entries, general ledger and the accounting cycle. For 2 years I have worked with H & R Block and have a specialty in tax. My tutoring experience was through Beta Alpha Psi and I did a semester of tutoring undergraduate accounting students.
I love to help people understand the complexities of accounting and the tax code. As a tax preparer I made it my duty to help each client understand their tax situation and made sure they could take all allowable deductions and credits. My teaching style is to lead by example but then provide the student with the oppurtunity to work through the problem on their own. I think that the greatest skill for one to learn is to be able to seek information that can be synthesized into the answer that is needed. I have clepped out or aced all english classes at the college level and have found a great interest in writing and reading papers and essays. I am extremely familiar with both APA and MLA writing styles and have had numerous hours and years of practice writing papers and essays for my college level courses. I received a 1 on my MEAP writing and a 30 on my ACT writing/English section.
Al though I have never technically tutored or taught a child writing, I am interested in helping aid a child's learning experience.
