Attending and graduating from Davidson College, a small liberal arts college in NC, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry was an extremely rewarding experience. I found that the college groomed their students by emphasizing analytical skills--both scientific and literary--and giving back to the community through both service and volunteerism. As a college student, I tutored students in mathematics courses up to Multivariable Calculus and chemistry students up to Organic Chemistry. As a graduate from an accredited college, I have learned and excelled as a science major. I have earned a BA in Biology, which has enabled me to obtain a well rounded education, which focused on math and science. In 2002 I graduated with a degree in biotechnology. During the last semester of school, I was a substitute teacher, where I learned a lot about children and different teaching styles. After graduation, I pursued a career as a chemist, but I always maintained a second part-time job teaching, in some fashion. Usually, that teaching involved a pool. I have been a swimming lesson instructor for 10 years and have been a YMCA swim coach for 3 seasons, coaching over 200 children per year. In these opportunities, I've learned a lot about interacting with children. I am also a trainer for my coworkers and new employees who join our team.
