While working on my Management MBA in Largo, FL I was elected head of the English Learning Center, and held this position for two years. The purpose of the center was to tutor international students in the English language and to assist them with paper and project revision. As a Native German speaker and a fluent Spanish speaker I can very well relate to the challenges and beauty of learning a foreign language.Last year I had the opportunity to attend a Teacher Training Course in India which had an emphasis on teaching human values and experiental learning. Teaching style depends on the subject, the type of material, and the student’s level and ability. The goal is to inspire a student to learn the study skills necessary to excel on their own. In a tutoring situation there is usually the immediate need (to pass a test) and the long term need to be able to succeed on their own. I try to balance these two goals but the guidance of the parents is most critical. I use a combination of repetition, memorization, quizzing, recitation, and problem solving to challenge a student’s thought process so that they may grasp the material. My learning philosophy is that the most successful learning is demonstrated when the student is able to explain the material being studied.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a UCF graduate and even prior to that I have always helped in the area of homework and study. I have earned a bachelor degree in Psychology and I have started a second bachelor's degree in Forensics. I have obtained many tutoring skills in my various areas of study including math, English, psychology, and science.
I have worked with children since I was 13. I have worked in settings where I was a daycare worker, a nanny, and a substitute teacher. I believe that every child has thier own unique way of learning even though there may be a mainstream way of teaching. I like to see where a child is and then go from there to see what would be the best way to help them learn new things.
