My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : I taught Macbeth to twelfth grade high school students while student teaching at Berry College and have an comprehensive understanding of Shakespeare plays. I can explain the language and stories in a context that any teenager could understand.

I opt for making the material relatable to my students, which causes it to be more interesting and meaningful. When something is relevant, it is a lot more fun and kids are much more willing to want to learn, which is, of course, ideal.
I graduated from McIntosh High School in Fayette County and studied English and Secondary Education at Berry College. I student taught for a year at Rome High School before graduating and becoming a substitute teacher in Fayette County. I have completed three long-term substitute positions, two of which put me in charge of an entire classroom with all the responsibilities of a full-time teacher. Additionally, I worked at Aloha-USA Mind Math with Elementary Students as an English Teacher and occasionally a Math teacher.

Shakespeare is one of my top subjects!

I earned my B.A. in English from Oglethorpe University in May 2007, and am currently completing my Master's thesis in English from Villanova University. In addition, I have served as a writing tutor at both schools over the past four years, working with students one-on-one to improve their writing skills. I have experience working with students both individually and in a group setting, primarily working with them on their writing and helping them to develop critical thinking skills. Learning never ceases; so, why should you?

I have had the honor of working with many kids in regards to a variety of fields. My experiences taught me responsibility, patience, the importance of learning and education, and much more. The various teaching opportunities I have been fortunate to have have impacted my social and educational lives; I take what I learn from teaching and apply it to my own studies- having patience and upholding the responsibilities of being a student.
My teaching style is a mixture of strict and lenient. I try to form a connection with students and apply that to my teaching method (i.e. incorporating a similar hobby in a question in order for the student to understand the material better). I expect my students to give me and the other students respect- never speaking while others are speaking, no disruptions, ect. This method of teaching has shown effective and a fun learning environment. I base my ... read more

If a Student enjoys a subject; it will be easier to learn.

I Graduated from Harrison high school in 2011, and I am currently working to get my bachelors in biology at Kennesaw State University. I have been tutoring neighbors in science, math, and vocals since my sophomore year of high school. I have been given many small awards by my school teachers in Science, math, and Vocals.
I use a lay back positive reinforcement teaching style. I try to figure out things the student likes and relate it to the subject. My main goal is to get the student to like the subject and enjoy learning about it, for if the student enjoys a subject it will be easier for them to learn.

Friendly, experienced, creative, and happy to assist!

I received my degree in English from an excellent college in the Midwest. While there, I worked as a writing tutor for 3 years and was highly praised for my ability to help improve students' writing skills. While working as a writing tutor I underwent regular training. I also have a strong knowledge of APA/MLA style and can assist students in properly formatting their work according to APA/MLA standards.
I'm friendly and cheerful and like to have discussions with my students about their papers and their other interests. Typically, I'll read over papers, asking questions as I go and making comments as I go along. I do like to mark on papers so that changes can be more easily made. I generally try to think of new and creative ways to explain grammatical concepts and general writing concepts if I'm not being clear. Basically, my tutoring sessions involve a lot of conversation. My teaching style is to lead by example. Being that I am a visual learning I try to work in steps showing them what is expected and them I allow them to slowly work it out themselves based off of what I've done. I've done a lot of teaching to children with Autism and our teaching style varied to fit the way the child was able to learn. I also took Educational Psychology in graduate school and learned the meaning of intentional teaching, which is teaching with the intent of having the student learn what you are teaching.
In response to your recently advertised job position, I would like to share with you my experiences working in the related field.
