From that point on, I subbed in various elementary schools, including Rockford and Comstock Park. I obtained a kindergarten position at St. Adalbert School in the fall of 1996 and taught there for four years. I then transferred to St Paul the Apostle School in 2000, where for the past 10 years I have taught first grade. I would offer a variety of book selections to the students. I would ask the child his or her interests and base the lesson around that as I believe we all learn better if the topic is of interest to us.
