Math was never an issue for me, I was always ahead of the curve in my math scores, and when I got the chance to relate that math ability to economics, it all made sense. Economics is second-nature to me. Economics puts calculus into real-world situations. Breezed through it in high school and first couple years of college, realized it would be an excellent thing for me to major in. Economics is all about logic, and being a logical person, economics always came easy. When you think logically, you are thinking economically. In economic problems, you always assume the agents in the problem will act in their best interest.

During the last eight years I have worked full-time in vocational and adult education environments. In addition to ESL, I have taught VESL (Vocational English as a Second Language), and GED Preparation. I have lived outside of the U.S. for five years. During this time I learned the languages, and engaged in work projects including I.T. Consulting, telecommunications, and graduate studies. First, and foremost, I believe that effective learning is both fun and relevant. I have always been able to make a game of it and to make it both interesting and challenging to others. My goal is never to teach them a rote solution, but to challenge them to think about the concepts and have then tell me the answers. This builds their confidence and solidifies their learning experience. I find that if they understand how a concept was derived in the first place, they seldom forget that story and therefore have learned something that will stay with them for a live time. I prefer to use the Socratic Method and draw the information from my students. Again, I think it is best if they THINK rather than learn.
