College Student - Eager to Gain Experience!

I am a hands on teacher, probably because I am a hands on learner. I find it difficult to learn when an instructor is solely lecturing. I believe that constant practice and hands on lessons are the most effective ways of learning.
I have an incredible passion for teaching. I am currently in the process of getting my Bachelors in Secondary Education with a focus in English. I have knowledge of the structure and content of the English language and thoroughly enjoy teaching others composition, spelling, creative writing, reading, vocabulary, etc. I do not have much experience yet in a classroom setting but have volunteered at a middle school while getting my Associates degree. I helped a teacher at a middle school to teach students that were having difficulty in various subjects.

Your Child's Best Interest.

I want your child to be able to feel comfortable to ask questions. A lot of students are scared to look "less than" in front of their peers if they ask questions. English and Literature are subjects meant to be questioned and not just read. I believe that your child has every capability to learn and my job is to help them turn on the light bulb to help them see that reading and writing aren't as hard as they seem to be.
I have student taught since my senior year in high school as a credit. I have tutored family members and coworkers. I am currently a third year student at Glendale Community College (GCC) and my major is Secondary Education in English. I student taught Senior English last semester and this experience has proved that this is the place that I want to be. I plan on going to ASU in the Fall of 2019 to continue my education.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love being with and teaching children, especially when it comes to reading and books. I find it highly gratifying to see the joy that comes with learning to love to read and the subsequent doors of learning that open as a result. Though kids have different learning styles, I believe that books and the ability to read are a universal passion that transcends all backgrounds and abilities. I fully understand that everyone learns things in different ways. While one student may be able to memorize and understand facts one way, say by repetition, another student may learn the information by understanding the background and context that it comes from.
