I love working with children and helping fulfill their potential. I like at children as water that must be directed in the right direction. I will do this my trying to find research validated methods of teaching that teaching to all the learning styles. If the child does not learn the first time I will try again and again until they have got it. As a teacher with dyslexia I felt that I was unable to teach reading to my students. I went in search of more training and found Alphabetic Phonics a Orton Gillingham program. I have sense used what I learn in the almost 160 hours of training with 11 students and seen progress in all of them.

I enjoy children and trying to teach them new and exciting things. At times, I understand that it requires patience to work with children, but if you are able to do that then chances of success are much more likely. I believe that everything we teach to these children will be needed sooner or later in life, and that the understanding of this knowledge will further improve their lives. Rewarding a student for their efforts in trying to understand the material is my game plan. I want them to feel accomplished and satisfied for their hard work. I have a bachelor's degree from the College of Saint Benedict. During my college education I worked for three years as a college writing tutor helping my students achieve academic excellence. Due to my degree and work experience I have ample experience and expertise in grammar, writing process and writing technique. Following my education I served two years with AmeriCorps: The first year with the Minnesota ReadingCorps wherein I worked with under-achieving first graders and the second year with the National Civilian Community Corps wherein I traveled the American Southwest doing various service projects.
