English Language Teacher/Tutor

I have taught ESL for 12 years and high school English for 2 years in public schools. I tutored my first subjects many years ago while in college when I tutored Composition I and II, Poetry, and Psychology. I have since tutored many hours in English-related areas. I specialize in English as a Second Language and have taught students from all around the world at a variety of proficiency levels. I have teaching licenses in multiple subjects in ND and MN and have a Master's degree in Teaching.
I believe learning should be fun. I also think its perfectly okay to make mistakes and know that we all do! A Little Bit About Me...

Every kid is different in their own special way. You need different tactics per different kid. Being that I am patient and caring I know that it wouldn't take long for them to get comfortable with me and have me assist them. I believe that every good deed should be rewarded and if the student is doing well he shall be treated so, with a possible treat or even a pat on the back. I feel that if a child is told what they are doing right rather than what they are doing wrong they are more likely to have a positive outlook on what task they are trying to accomplish.
As a young college student I understand that my experience doesn't compare to those with degrees and much time doing it. I see my job as that of facilitator: the student is there, the information is there, and the student is the learner. I'm just there to guide, explain, provide details, clarify, relate new information to existing knowledge, etc. The student has to be "in charge," so to speak. I can't force knowledge into someone's mind, it has to be learned, but I can help make that information real and relevant to provide the motivation to learn.
