I don't have the certification to be a teacher but I have been student teaching since seeking a degree in biology. I love working with students. My goal as a future educator is to listen and do my best to get the students interested in the lesson. I also hope to help them figure out their future goals. I just hope to make a difference my the students lives.
I started working in the school system in 2001 volunteering as a tutor for at risk kids. I tutored numerous mathematic course for over 6 years. In May of 2010, I successfully completed my fourth year of teaching. Each year has been different. The children of today learn in many different ways. There has been a change in learning styles over the course of time. Some children may learn through hands on activities and modeling, while others learn through lecture. Regardless of the learning style, I have learned that it is my job to make learning relevant and meaningful to students.
The role of the teacher is to be a facilitator. The teacher facilitates the students in making personal decisions as well as participates in discussions that affect society.
