I am a very experienced teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL). I served for three years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Afghanistan and the Fiji Islands. I also taught ESL in Japan, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. I have also taught ESL for many years here in the USA to both adults and children. I have experience with many foreign cultures.
I like a conversational, relaxed style in which the students are encouraged to speak English as much as possible. I often have students repeating useful, whole sentences and phrases.Mistakes are okay! Humor is okay! Questions are encouraged.

At Shepard Middle School, I implemented a writing program that was credited with bringing standardized (TAAS at the time) scores up substantially, garnering our school a large monetary award from the state. After twelve years, I moved to the North East ISD, where I taught English at both Nimitz Middle School and Barbara Bush Middle School. I retired last June, but I still love working with children of all ages.
