I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA. Kind and patient tutor for math, science & computing.

Patient, relaxed, friendly. Able to translate concepts into different scenarios in order to help the student grasp the concept.
Although not degreed in math, science or computers, they were my favorite subjects. More importantly, I am gifted in communicating concepts into terms my students understand and grasp. Repetition doesn't equate to learning, it's a component, it's a way to practice, but it is not how the mind grasps the concept. You will find me kind and patient, I understand you may not get the concept the first or second time. I do however, have high expectations in completing homework. When covering content I use many examples that relate to real life, that way students can relate it to something they have experienced or seen. I also like performing small-scale experiments and labs. I will use power point presentations as well as the overhead for drawings, notes, and discussion. A Little Bit About Me...

I recently have spent the last six months in the Head Start Program as a center teacher. We prepare them for kindergarten. I have taught all grade levels. I currently have a BA with a concentration in K-8 education. Due to online classes, I have written hundreds of research and essay papers using APA style although I have helped my son use MLA which I can write in effectively.
