My comments on tutoring American History : I have tutored two different students (one boy and one girl, both with ADHD), plus taught it to each of my 3 homeschooled daughters. We make it exciting! Not just boring names and dates.

I graduated with an M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina in May of 2010. Directly after graduating, I began a career as an Academic Advisor in the Moore School of Business Undergraduate Division at the University of South Carolina. I currently still hold this job. Personally, I am dyslexic and despite my learning differences I was able to attend law school and pass the South Carolina Bar exam. During my first year of teaching I was disappointed to learn how little time and energy is given to students who learn differently. My second year I choose to work at the John de la Howe School for at-risk youth and I loved every minute of that year: the school was designed to teach students with learning differences and behavioral issues.
I learned to be a more creative, patient and more caring teacher during that school year.
