I actually believe that having the ability to teach is a gift, and that Learning occurs from a variety of experiences and explorations. I generally use a teacher-centered approach to teaching; however, there are other times that I prefer to use a learner-centered approach as to meet the needs of my students and their learning styles. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education. I loved working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, but it was extremely hard finding a job doing that in my area. Due to that fact, I started tutoring as many kids from the local schools as much as possible and I loved doing it. That also motivated me to work on adding endorsements to my teaching license so that I can teach regular education as well. Throughout my matriculation at Tougaloo College, we have always been taught to be critical thinkers and to be professional. I have achieved a BS in Biology, and in that major I focus mainly on biology, chemistry, and some math. I feel my calling is working with children. My experience volunteering as a youth basketball and baseball coach has showed me that a child’s ability to learn is unlimited.
