I have always been driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned two bachelor degrees in both Chemistry and German, which enabled me to gain an understanding of math and science from the reading of the original scientific papers in German;a better understanding of English(a Germanic language)also resulted. Working as an analytical chemist for the federal government for over 25 years caused me to improve my writing and English skills as a substitute teacher for over 12 years I feel I have gained enormous experience in working with all types and ages of children. I actually believe that having the ability to teach is a gift, and that Learning occurs from a variety of experiences and explorations. I generally use a teacher-centered approach to teaching; however, there are other times that I prefer to use a learner-centered approach as to meet the needs of my students and their learning styles. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education. I loved working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, but it was extremely hard finding a job doing that in my area. Due to that fact, I started tutoring as many kids from the local schools as much as possible and I loved doing it. That also motivated me to work on adding endorsements to my teaching license so that I can teach regular education as well. I’ve added Special Education (k-12) and Social Studies (7-12) and I am working on adding English and Math as well. I am excited about given the opportunity to work in the school system.
