A Little Bit About Me...

I believe every child is curious in nature and loves to learn. Sometimes, a child will begin to lose interest and subsequently fall behind at school because he / she encounters some stumbling blocks in the learning process. My approach is to help the child identify and remove these stumbling blocks. The child will then be able to regain his / her interest in the subject and be back on the track to success. I have a special talent in reigniting a child’s interest in learning. I strongly believe that children can only realize their full potential if they are interested in what they are doing. In my own experience, the key to learning has been to find a "critical link:" that is, to figure out an angle that makes sense to my brain. It is one thing to be exposed to a subject, and another to understand, remember and easily employ what is learned. Everybody thinks differently, so the key is to discuss and explore the topic with a student until you see that they've experienced that "aha" moment. This is why tutoring is so important, in my opinion. This is the core of the approach I take to tutoring my peers, presenting ideas to professors, and to teaching younger students.
I received my Bachelors of Arts degree from Willamette University, where I majored in politics and minored in economics.
