A Little Bit About Me...

I have always excelled in school. My master's degree GPA is 3.8. my undergraduate degree GPA is 3.85. As a retired marine officer, I have had many opportunities to teach in a military environment. In addition, I served as the School Liaison Officer for the U. S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay School system for 3 years. During that time I also taught a college freshman English class for Troy State University aboard the base. Upon retirement, I tutored and mentored middle school students for 2 years. I also volunteered 2 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for a 3 children. This advocacy involved keeping up with school progress in special programs and assisting the kids to adapt and overcome environmental difficulties. I love working with children. I have taught Sunday School classes at various age levels. I believe that each child is different and learns in his/her own way on his/her own time-table; therefore, I work with each child differently depending on their needs. I try to teach in a way that the child can understand and grasp the concepts of grammar, writing, and reading.
I graduated with a Bachelor's in English from Troy University Dothan in December 2009. Since I opted for a Bachelor's in English rather than a Bachelor's in Secondary English Education, I took more writing and literature classes. In all of my English Literature classes, I had numerous writing assignments that helped me learn how to write.
