A Little Bit About Me...

I am a dedicated professional who is passionate about helping students achieve academic success. This past year, I spent time as an SES Lead Tutor after school and in-home and tutored (Reading - phonics based - and Math) many children in grades K through 7th that held IEPs. I believe that each child learns at their own Pace and if they are tested, the gaps in their education will appear. Once these gaps are addressed, they can move forward with their peers. You must find out what works for each student and use that method to make learning fun. I believe in step-by-step hands on with a lot of practice. I would love to continue to have a positive impact on all students when it comes to Math and share with them the love that I have.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I teach reading, I convey my love of reading. When I teach math, I convey the logical beauty of math. When I teach other subjects, I stress the importance of the material and how it is relevant to everyday life. In Sunday school this week, we combined with another class, so there were people there who aren’t usually. Several of them thanked me and let me know how much they got out of it. My response is that I am a teacher. It’s who I am and what I do.
I was a corporate trainer for 3 years, followed by 12 years serving as a software instructor. Prior to and throughout this time, I also taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school, teaching everyone from 2 year olds to adults. I spent one summer as a reading tutor, and many of my software classes have been 1-on-1 tutoring sessions. I have volunteered as an SOL coach and in Head Start classrooms.
