I have been a tutor at UCA for about 2 years. I tutor mainly in math but I have experience with other subjects. I am a computer science major. I know how to use computer languages like Python, C++, HTML, and Assembly Language. I know how to use most of the Microsoft Office programs which include Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, and Word. I have a little experience with Access but I am not a pro in it.

my teaching style depends upon how that person learns. so many times you have young people that have very bright minds, but maybe they are a "visual" learners. in other words, they have to see it a certain way. i had teachers that i really loved and did well, but there were others that taught the same subject and i couldn't get anything out of the class.

I have always loved teaching students the principals of Math. During my time at Harding University I was apart of a competitive Economic team (SIFE) and for them I developed original material on economic principles to present at the surrounding elementary schools and even high schools. Also during College I worked at a Learning center and was a co-teacher in the pre-school class. I also spent a short time at the YMCA helping kids after school with their homework. Many students have had the Ben Stein type of teacher thru their math schooling, and don't know the subject for its logic-based simplicity. I believe and use a little theatrics, encouragement, and patience. With these, my students can be reached. These were traits my advisor looked for us to develop in our early starts as teachers. Smart man. I saw it countless times while at the board lecturing or during my office hours at the University - a dry presentation fails. When working one on one with a student I practice a few different methods of teaching and whichever one they feel the most comfortable with and I receive the most attentiveness from, is the one that I continue to use. For example, some students prefer that you walk them through a lesson, go over a few practice problems and then let them work on assignments, knowing that they have you to assist them when needed. I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. I also received a minor in Interdisciplinary studies through the Honor's College at UCA.
