Myriad of subjects can be covered

I have worked with children in one role or another for the past ten years. Last semester I student taught 8th grade American History in Fort Collins and completed my social studies licensure. I then substitute taught a myriad of subjects from English to Math, grades pre-K through 12th grade. Before that I spent four years going through CSU's education department and semesters with students ranging 6th grade to 12th grade.
I like to make connections between what is relevant in the world right now to the subject matter.

I am a self starter, and am good at trying to help someone to see what their potential can be. I am a life-long learner and believe education is what makes people successful in today's society. I own a lot of software programs from the Teach12 curricula. I learn such things as discreet math, the Joy of Science and Understanding the Brain to name a few. I read book such as "Character is Destiny" and "Eleanor Roosevelt" to learn about our rich history. A Little Bit About Me...

I earned all A's in my graded graduate courses at Teachers College, Columbia University. I believe this reflects my ability to study, learn, research and write research papers. My Master of Arts degree is in Psychology in Education. The courses for this program were in Developmental Psychology and Measurement and Evaluation. Developmental Psychology includes cognitive and language growth. Measurement and Evaluation includes the assessment of individuals, groups, programs and products. I have teaching experience with kindergarten through high school. I home schooled my daughter in 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th grades. She scored very high on her SATs (790 out of 800 in Critical Reading.) A Little Bit About Me...

I have obtained a bachelor degree in History which has given me the ability to pursue education in the high schools for History. Although I do not hold a teacher license I was given to opportunity to teach using an emergency license. I currently work with homeschool students to progress through their school year in an alternative learning environment.
I enjoy spending time with each student and I try to introduce humor to the subject. I like to teach with hands on approaches and at time lecture to ensure details are met. I feel the students can teach each others and small group settings tend to lead to better educational learning.
