My teaching style is calm, patient, and supportive. I've learned over the years that in every situation, including the classroom, that in teaching writing, the instructor must begin where the student is, recognize and affirm existing positive skills and knowledge, and build on those. Having learned in a high-school volunteer reading tutorial program to never use the word "no," I utilize positive psychology to improve skills, confidence, and self-esteem. I bring a lot of energy to the classroom and ensure that I am over-prepared for each lesson. I enjoy involving every student in a classroom setting and encourage an active, open learning environment.
