A Little Bit About Me...

For the past 10 years, I have worked in my community, helping to better the lives of children. At age 15, I began mentoring young girls and volunteering for a non-profit organization, counseling developmentally delayed children and at-risk youth. I later went on to become a Behavioral Therapist, educating children with autism. My love for children (and passion for education) was the determining factor in the course of my college career. A Little Bit About Me...

My style of teaching is what I would call "upbeat". I like to involve the students so as to allow them an opportunity to feel they are part of the class. Lectures can lead to students losing interest. I incorporate a touch of humor, and later quiz the students on their lessons. Reinforcment of the material is important--meaning that I have a follow-up session to see if material is retained. Most importantly, I provide encouragement. Many of the students I worked with in China would become frustrated because of their english level--sometimes consisting of a low level. I excercised patience as well.
