I have a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from UW-La Crosse. I graduated in the spring of 2012. I was an on campus tutor and I tutored math from pre-algebra through Calculus II. I also have privately tutored algebra, pre-calc and AP Calculus. I have worked with students grade 5 all the way through the college level. I spent time volunteer tutoring in 2013 at the elementary/middle school I attended.

A Little Bit About Me...

While I was a student at the College of Menominee Nation I was a tutor in the accounting and math areas. I am also very good with computers. I have been out of school for a few years, but I am always willing to help out anyone who had a question, and If I can help them out it's all the better.
I am not a teacher, but I like to think that I can help out in a way that the student or person I am tutoring will learn. I love working with people, and anyway that I can help them learn better makes me feel better. I have children of my own and help them out with school work. I believe that applications to everyday life should be stressed if a tutor/teacher is to pique the interest of their student(s). Rather than stressing rote memorization, I believe it is more important to relate overall concepts in a "partnering" style. It is important to remember that one of the cornerstones of teaching is making the subject matter interesting and relevant to the student's experiences. I believe it is also important to focus on a student's strengths rather than their weaknesses. As in many areas of life, teaching also requires patience. From my experience, children benefit greatly from an easy-going approach where they are regarded as equals and treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
