In May of 2010, I successfully completed my fourth year of teaching. Each year has been different. The children of today learn in many different ways. There has been a change in learning styles over the course of time. Some children may learn through hands on activities and modeling, while others learn through lecture. Science and math is best taught using self discovery and inquiry. I use these methods extensively. Patience is necessary as you first model, then assist, and finally use practice so the student gains fluency in the skill. I plan lessons around individual learning style and ability. Tough love is needed so a student will reach potential as is recognition of progress. I used my tecnical skills in the real world for 35 years.
