I am a firm believer in relating education to the real world. This philosophy transcends into my teaching style. I make it a mission to ensure my students understand what they're learning rather than simply memorizing it to pass a test. I want my students to not only learn the subject matter but develop a fundamental understanding of what it takes to succeed in school, college, and the real world. I was recognized for my teaching abilities during my undergraduate years, having been selected as a teaching assistant as a freshman for sociology courses. As a graduate student, I spent much of my time as a teaching assistant and later as an instructor at the college level. I spent several years reading and evaluating statewide public school exams in science, math and writing, while helping shape the questions asked by state exam boards for primary and secondary school students. I have worked as a substitute teacher in all grade levels and in all subject areas. I have been accepted into a high degree Masters program but feel I need to have a job to justify the repayment(s) of additional student loans that would be needed to finish my MA.
