I am passionate about making sure my students not only excel in the courses they take, but are prepared for a world in which the biosciences (especially the molecular biology of the genome & DNA!)will form the basis of medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, and major technological breakthroughs in environmental science. For example, are they far behind their class or just having problems grasping some concepts? I would modify my teaching style depending on the situation, but in general I identify facts that need to be memorized and concepts that need to be understood. We would work through material, in a textbook, for example. Finally the student must apply logic and related skills (algebra, for example) needed for problem solving.
