I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2007 from SUNY Brockport with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, English and Special Education. I have worked as a substitute teacher in all grade levels and in all subject areas. I have been accepted into a high degree Masters program but feel I need to have a job to justify the repayment(s) of additional student loans that would be needed to finish my MA. I have recently been a four county advocate for people with special needs as the Disabilities Program Navigator. I would still hold this position if funding had not run out. As a literacy volunteer I was awakened to a deep desire to achieve my degree in a career in the helping profession. This profession opened doors for a career change in education. I embraced the challenges of a teacher/professor for students ranging from kindergarten to senior citizens, both in the class room setting and one-on-one tutoring in the home settings and community programs.
