I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. After retiring from the Navy I went to work in the school system as a security assistant. After one year I resigned and went to Norfolk State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major concentration in Learning Disabled and a minor in Emotionally Disturbed. Ten years later I earned a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College. I have been a Special Education Teacher for the past 16 years teaching in the Virginia Beach City Schools.
