I enjoy watching others learn and come to the realization that they can achieve their goals. My teaching/tutoring style is relaxed and pro-active. The more the student discovers on their own with only a little coaching and encouragement will last longer than if someone shows every step. I believe in a practical hands one real world method. If what the student is learning is not relavent to the real world and their lives they are less likely to learn it.

I have tutored fellow students while I was in college in mathematics, chemistry and physics. I have a love and great appreciation of mathematics and all that is involved with it. I have tutored high school students in math, I have tutored college graduates for the math portion of the GRE, and have also tutored non-traditional students in mathematics. Over the past three years, I have tutored more than 40 undergraduate students in various capacities. Not surprisingly, my teaching style has varied quite a bit depending on my audience. Getting students to focus and engaging them in conversations that would get them interested in this subject has been the key. Dissecting a problem down to basic concepts and then explaining it in a simplified fashion has been my style and that has helped my students quite a bit. Very specifically, I usually spend first five minutes understanding student’s issues with a particular chapter or problem.
