The Achievement Centers, our after school tutorial/diagnostic clinic and before and after school care, is available for all ages and subjects. Tutoring and diagnostic testing is available after school, evenings (Monday – Friday) and Saturday mornings. The clinic is available year-round. Our testing clinician and school psychologist offer a Psychoeducational Evaluation to all new students. The testing is scheduled for two three hour sessions on separate days during after school hours. The evaluation consist of various test measuring a student’s cognitive abilities, processing skills, IQ, and academic levels. Physics is one of my top subjects! I earned my M.S. in Physics from Depaul University in 2012 and have been a full time instructor of physics, engineering and astronomy at Moraine Valley Community College ever since. While at Depaul I worked as a private tutor and had many satisfied students who saw a great increase in their grades. I am currently working on my M.S. in Science Education.

I earned my B.S. in physics from Loyola University in 2010 and my M.S. in physics from Depaul University in 2012. While at Depaul I was a TA where I assisted in calculus based physics courses and also tutored high school and college physics students on the side. After graduating I became a full time instructor of physics, engineering and astronomy at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, and just received tenure this past fall. I believe that by letting the student try to answer the problem by them self is the best way of learning. I will try to guide them down the right path, but even a wrong answer can teach you a lesson. I also believe that practice is the best way to become good at science or math, like a basketball player practice basketball to become better, so must a student.

When it comes to starting a new subject, I start with questions to stimulate minds first. I start from the last step, example: How can we do elbow flexion? Then elbow joint constituents and their relation to each other Then the origin and insertion of the "Brachialis" as well as its nerve and blood supply.... I think this works for almost 70% of students. Some have a special aproach that can be discovered in their response to a general question like "What can you see through this window"? Such an answer could tell wheather they focus on the large image or on the details, wheather they get impressed by colors or movements..etc.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an Electrical Engineer, I am very capable in all areas of Math and Science. I have tutored family memebers for many years in these subjects and have acted as an independent contractor for high schools in the area as well. I feel my approach to the subjects and personal disposition, make the subject matter easier to grasp. My college level courses gave me a deeper understanding of all math related topics, which makes it easier to convey these topics in understandable terms.
