I was homeschooled for the majority of my education which enabled me to assit my younger brothers and sisters in their studies. At the end of my undergraduate work at UW-Oshkosh, I was asked to intern for the Baraboo School District in place of student teaching . Working with fourth graders was the beginning of my life as an educator. After five years of teaching, I changed grade levels and taught fifth grade for four years. During this time, I had the opportunity to work with The Everyday Math Program, inquiry based learning, and 6-Trait Writing. My desire to teach and tutor students in mathematics comes from my love of the subject. I have always enjoyed math and truly enjoy passing on my knowledge of math. I understand that many people do not share my passion for numbers but I work with my students to help them achieve a greater understanding and appreciation for mathematics. When I begin with a new student I like to spend a few minutes discussing the goals he or she has for our sessions. I have been in accounting and finance since my graduation from UW-Whitewater in 1985. I have worked in public accounting, manufacturing and in non-profit organizations. I believe am would be a good fit teaching high school accounting, college intro to accounting, intro to cost accounting, economics, or intro to finance. Other areas are dependent upon the subject matter. My work experience has also enabled me to be proficient using the MS Office suite, particularly Excel.

Where I find the problem I would show them the correct ways to approach a problem and prove it to them or use other methods to help them understand how the concepts work.
