My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : Very successful at teaching not just the basics but also the conventions and joy of Shakespeare.

I combine various styles from "old school" to best practices to differentiated offers.
I have taught nearly all areas of language arts including, but not limited to, ECA/GQE remediation, SAT/ACT prep, beginning-intermediate-advance composition, AP English/literature, poetry, American literature, British literature, drama, speech, and school newspaper. I have, in addition, worked with school drama productions, encouraged my "poetically inclined" students to participate in school poetry slams and co-founded a student art/literary publication. Finally, once you have all the rules in your back pocket, you can evolve into a jazz artist who seemingly leaves the rules behind. It is the same with language. You first learn and practice the basic components – reading, vocabulary, grammar, usage, three-paragraph themes, etc. Then you find yourself able to experiment with word choice and metaphor. As a student at Earlham College, a liberal arts institution, I had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of academic experiences. As an English major, I have acquired extensive grammatical skills as a result of writing numerous essays analyzing various types of prose. My study of Spanish was also quite thorough, and during my four years at Earlham I went from being an intermediate speaker to a fluent one.
