Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I am an American Sign Language Interpreting Education Student at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. I have been taking sign language classes for four years, and have had the opportunity to fully immerse myself in Deaf culture.

I am working on degrees in Political Science and American Sign Language Interpreting Education at the Rochester Institute of Technology/National Technical Institute for the Deaf. I am a good student and do well, particularly in Liberal Arts classes. On campus I have worked both as a note taker for the Department of Access Services and as a Liberal Arts tutor. I am a hands on kind of teacher. I like to find ways to make teaching come to life and be a fun and enjoyable experience for the student. The more one on one I can be the better. I think you can be a better teacher when you know and understand your students more. I still maintain a great relationship with girls I counseled at camp back in 2001 and 2002. A Little Bit About Me...

What I have discovered about myself is that I learn differently from other people. I am the kind of person who prefers to set aside that assembly instruction manual and put together that Christmas toy by laying out the pieces in an orderly fashion. There is so much pleasure in problem solving. I learn by asking myself questions. I have little patience for mundane drills and memorization if they can be avoided. Each child is different. It is meaningless to say that a child is intelligent. There are many kinds of intelligences. Some children are more intelligent in memorization. Others are intelligent in solving problems. A Little Bit About Me...

I was home-schooled until the sixth grade with my three brothers. I completed junior high at a private school and then graduated Salutatorian from a public high school. My parents operated a small day care that I worked in with school age children completing homework assignments. I have also worked in a Day Care as a caregiver for small children.
