Ashley Frankian- Special Educator, Ell instructor

I am a strategic based teacher that enhances my students learning through finding their own particular learning style. Each student has and individualized learning approach to their studies. Once they find what works for them, they will succeed. It is my job as an educator to help them find that out. I like to use a multi modality approach so that students learn all different types of learning styles, this way they may pick and choose certain styles that work for them. For example, If the students are writing about a short story they have read, to help them get their thoughts on to paper, I would assist them with graphic organizers to prompt them to list of jot down vocabulary words or important people places or things in the story however, in a manner that helps them to do this with a proper beginning, middle and end. All of this is visually designed on the graphic organizer to help the ... read more

Journalism is one of my top subjects!

While I have never conducted a formal tutoring session, I have edited the work of my peers and more recently assisted my girlfriend's younger sister with the completion of her college essay. From my experience, I have found that I prefer to work one-on-one with the student whose work I am editing. That way, I am able to explain my revisions and help them understand my reasoning behind making certain edits. I'm not, by any means, a hard-nosed individual, but I'll certainly do my best to ensure that the student learns something.
Not only was English my favorite subject as well as the one I was most proficient in in high school, it eventually became my major in college. I majored in Journalism at The University of New Hampshire, and while I have not yet received my Bachelor's of Arts from the institution I am a mere handful of credits away from earning it (9, to be exact), an acco ... read more

I earned my degree in newspaper journalism at Syracuse University, one of the finest schools in the country for this program. Since that time, I have worked as a writer, editor, journalist and reporter for several major organizations, most recently as a content producer for Monster.com's Career Advice. This position involved working with freelance writers to mold their work into a better product.

My work history in Marketing Management allows me to orchestrate an environment with fun and enthusiasm. I believe that a great deal of a child's success will come from making the process of learning enjoyable as opposed to it being a chore. I make the experience of learning fun so my students want more. Giving children the tools with which to succeed is on of the greatest gifts and educator can give. It is so crucial for a child to be able to be given a foundation upon which they can draw from long after our time together ends. Their toolbox for learning will be with them for a lifetime.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a passion for teaching and working with students, and I am highly energetic and enthusiastic in the classroom. I make it a priority to help students understand that even if a subject isn't enjoyable to them, it is still rewarding to achieve success with it. I make an effort to adapt to each students learning style, whether visual, kinesthetic, auditory, or something different. By reaching out to the student and engaging with them as an individual, I am able to help them develop and understanding of the content which works best for them. If my student can walk away knowing not just more about their subject, but more about how they function as a learner, then I've done my job.
