After 5 years of teaching, my business career was always related to my education background. I have been a sales manager and trainer. I worked with ITT as an insurance training manager for 2 years.My sales career has been of a consultive, informational style. There is a great reward to seeing someone grasp the idea you are educating them to achieve. Upon graduation I began teaching in NY State. I taught one year at the junior high level with classes in american History and English. I think it is more important to understand the student than to understand the material. Don't get me wrong - as a teacher I always re-educate myself to the material if need be - but I feel my real strength as an educator lies in finding a new way to teach the same concept. If a student is failing to learn, it is less often the material itself and more often the way it is being presented. Finding a new way is something I have practiced in school and at BOCES, and is my greatest strength as a teacher.
