Gayle Evans is a certified Barton tutor. She has a driving passion to teach dyslexic learners, empowering them to overcome their fears and thrive the way they were meant to. Upon finishing a busy era of home educating her own children, after the fact, she realized at least two of her children had dyslexia. During that time, dyslexia was misunderstood and not well supported. Attending an introductory Susan Barton seminar explaining dyslexia left her on the edge of her seat with a new mission in life. She began as a volunteer tutor at a public charter school in San Jose, working with dyslexic students using an Orton-Gillingham based intervention. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been involved with education for roughly the past five years, spending 2 as a substitute teacher, 2.5 as a Middle and High School Social Studies teacher and 0.5 as an Adult Education Instructor. I hold a Master's Degree in Social Studies Education from Morehead State University and a Bachelor's Degree in History from Alice Lloyd College. Classes I have taught include United State History, World History, World Geography and Law & Justice.
My teaching style varies depending on the students I am teaching. It consists of lecture notes, handouts, exams and quizes and games such as Jeopardy. I believe that all students have the ability to learn and grow as individuals. It is my job as the teacher to make learning both enjoyable and educational. My main goal in education is to make a difference in the lives of the students I teach.
