My style of teaching is to explain the how and why and then immediately have the student perform a task - hopefully on his own, but with assistance if needed. I then repeat that until a student will take on a challenge and do the tasks solely by himself. I love making a difference in a future adult's knowledge base and skills. Through my years in my last position I was able to witness firsthand how different teaching styles worked well for different children. The one common factor was that if I could make it fun and add an element of hands on type activities the lessons were retained better.
