Graphic Design is one of my top subjects! My undergraduate degree is in Visual Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design and Photography.

My teaching philosophy starts out with essentialism which believes in a strong core curriculum and high academic standards. I believe it is important to have a strong foundation on which to build upon. After ensuring a strong foundation I tend to lean more towards progressivism. I believe students should be taught what is relevant today while becoming more independent learners, by utilizing problem solving skills and critical thinking. I teach the foundation and build upon that based upon what is relevant in a particular field today. I also include student-centered teaching strategies. I believe in order to learn a student must have base knowledge of a subject that leads into hands on assignments which require mastery of a subject. Due to my experience with a broad range of young learners, each working at a different academic and or cognitive pace, I follow a modified Socratic approach to both my classroom and one on one instruction by placing the emphasis on the student as we identify areas for growth. I then sculpt an academic program that we both/all have helped to design, thus accessing an invaluable font of enthusiasm and insight addressing how best to approach the needs of each individual student. This is especially true for those students who don't feel heard, suffer from academic performance anxiety or are struggling with the manner in which the material has previously been presented to them.
