My comments on tutoring Computer Programming : Java

Learning can be difficult when the fundamentals are not understood. Education becomes easier when the basics are understood. My teaching style assures the fundamentals are understood, the basics are known and then build on top of it. Students takes chances and learn on their own when they have the fundamental understanding. Students tend to cram the solutions when the basic are not understood. My teaching centered on math, computers, physics, and general science. Some of my extracurricular activities included a robotics club; summer computer programming classes for early elementary students; and field expeditions to study insects. I always enjoyed teaching mathematics topics such as Calculus to students. That subject in particular is needed for many applied fields in which several (engineering, physics, actuarial science) I have both working and educational experience in. I tutored for three years in various mathematics subjects at Penn State.
I enjoy teaching adults and young adults who may be in high school or college. You can always find a way to relate the material to the student, and that is the key for them not just to understand it but care about it and have motivation. Such distracted or unprivileged students just need someone to sit down with them and break the teachings down for them.

A Little Bit About Me...

It has always been a passion of mine to work with and educate young children and youth. I began tutoring at a Elementary School for a few hours when I was in high school as well as assisted other children with math and reading on an as needed basis. When I was away at undergrad school, I was able to work with local Elementary children, but it was not on a consistent basis. Once I graduated from Undergrad, I returned home and began tutoring with my church and volunteered to work with the Sr. Youth Ministry as well. During this time period I also worked with two different tutoring companies.
My teaching style varies based on the child that I am working with that time. I like learning the student's learning style, then making the information relatable to them. I also like finding their weak spots then building on that with constant repetition. Also, I will try to give the student real life problems so they can see how they can/will use the Math in everyday situations.
Throughout my college career, I've gained a plethora of tutoring experience in the Mathematics field; ranging from elementary math to Calculus. I've tutored privately, in groups, home schooled students and in a college math lab. I've also taught a 10th grade Algebra class.
