After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.

My comments on tutoring Spelling : Spelling in most cases is memorization and sounds. A combination of the two work together to become good at spelling. Seeing the words on paper also help the student to remember them.

In my tutoring sessions I spend time getting to know my student discovering his weaknesses, his strengths and evaluating his abilities to learn, and to comprehend. Then I devise a plan of action to help him overcome areas of fear and insecurity by helping him to build confidence and right attitudes towards learning. I then proceed to teach him good listening skills for comprehension with positive encouragement for new adventure. As my student becomes more confident, I then begin to work on his areas of weakness he has in learning to rise him up to a new level of expression. A Little Bit About Me...

During my undergraduate, I had multiple field studies in middle and high school classes. I also had to tutor elementary students through my college for certain reading classes.
