A Little Bit About Me...

My education, experience and personal interest have always been connected with teaching languages. I am a graduate of the Tver State University (Russia) and hold two master’s degrees: in linguistics and teaching English language and literature. Over 15 years I’ve worked as an instructor and a tutor of the Russian and English languages in diverse student environments both in the United States and Russia. I've taught most recently Academic Writing and Argumentation at West Texas A&M University and the Russian language at Amarillo College (Texas).
All my classes are made based on students’ learning styles, their needs and goals. After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
