I began my college career admitted at age 17 to a competitive Bachelor of Nursing program at Boise State University. I took courses in Science, Math, Chemistry, Psychology and Health before I transferred to Brigham Young University-Idaho to pursue Horticulture. BYU-I has one of the top Horticulture programs in the country (as recognized by PLANET). I competed for BYU-I as one of the front most students in 2 years of PLANET competitions. I personally finished twelfth of all 900 students competing and helped take our team to both a 1st and 2nd place finish. Tutoring is not just about improving grades, although that is the most obvious result. It is about allowing the student to feel the pride of success, and learn how to transfer newly learned skills in one subject to other unrelated subjects. I truly believe that every student can be successful. Sometimes the pathway to success is not always visible to the student; a competent teacher can point the way.
