A Little Bit About Me...

In my experience, most students under perform in science and math due to the an inability to relate theses subjects to practical real life examples. Connecting chemistry and physics principles with analogous real life examples is the key for students to become both interested and proficient in these subjects. When a student gains an appreciation for a subject, it will certainly be reflected in by their grades.

Chemistry is one of my top subjects! Chemistry is one of my best subjects. I took Honors Chemistry in tenth grade and AP Chemistry in eleventh. I received an A+ in both for my efforts and a 5 on the AP exam. I was the very best student both years. It is a subject I have already and hope to continue tutoring.

I have helped my classmates and have had one official student as of this summer. However, I have learned how to explain concepts so that students dont just memorize, they will gain a thought process and applicable knowledge that will enable them to solve even the most complex problems. I am finishing up my Bachelors degree in Dietetics at SUNY Oneonta- I will be graduated in December. I have been offered positions as a chemistry tutor but denied because of my other jobs. I was a student mentor for a year in high school to students that were "slacking" or wasn't understanding one or more of their classes. I worked at Albany ARC and worked to train young adults and adults in the kitchen- which also included basic skills such as counting and reading.
I really would like to help make a difference in someone's life and help them understand academics just like myself. When I try to teach someone, I always explain to them the subject as basic and simple as possible. I give a few examples, and then help them figure it out themselves. I usually review the material with the students first and then give them a quiz to see what they have learned and where there weaknesses are.
