Currently a junior at the University of Memphis, I am seeking a Bachelor's degree in English. I love to write, and have always been the dictionary for people, so my concentration is in Creative Writing. I have very high marks in all my English classes, (transcripts for which available upon request) and am currently 12,000 words into my first book. I have tutored children of many ages in the past, many of whom suffered with audio/visual difficulties such as dyslexia and other reading/comprehension difficulties. Each child who applied their tutoring lessons to their in-school learning excelled in their school work/grades.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have enjoyed learning and teaching my whole life. I earned a degree from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Elementary Education,and minors in English and Psychology. I have experience tutoring neighborhood students, as well as two years of professional middle school teaching. I am licensed to teach grades k-8 in English, math, science and social studies.
I love working with students of all ages and abilities. My last job was in a self-contained middle school classroom for students with behavior problems and learning and emotional disabilities. After graduating from Vanderbilt University I taught 5th grade for 2 years while working on my Master's at TSU. I then moved to the Knoxville area and taught K until my son was born in 2000. We then moved to Wisconsin where I taught in various after school programs until my 2 children were old enough for preschool. I then went back part time and taught 4 K until my 3rd child was born in 2005. Throughout this entire time I tutored various children ages 8 - 15 years if age.
My teaching style can best be described as varied! I believe that children learn in numerous ways, so as an educator it is my responsibility to provide multiple experiences - visual, oral, tactile, etc. A person walking by my classroom would see children smiling, working in groups, accomplishing projects, and would hear noise.
