I worked with the Minnesota Literacy Council tutoring adult learners in basic math and reading skills. I attempted multiple approaches with each person until we found one that allowed the learner to make sense of the symbols and language. I encouraged the ability to work at the material until the learner could make it his/her own in some way. I also trained new employees each month in the use of a software program at a pharmaceutical company. Employees were required to learn the program regardless of experience and ability with computer programs. I was challenged to engage disinterested employees, encourage frustrated employees, and meet the demands of highly inquisitive employees while maintaining focus on the required information. I will ask a student some questions to find out what they know about the subject. I listen carefully for clues to potential obstacles the student is facing.

I believe that everyone learns in a different way so I approach teaching with a very adaptable style that adjusts to the person or people I am teaching. I love to find interesting and new ways to share information, and I find it very fullfilling to know that when I am finished teaching I have increased the opportunities for another person to succeed. I love to help people and help improve their education. Graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead with a degree in accounting, and a strong background of math and businesses courses has given me an excellent background in math. I also took various english and writing composition classes which has provided me with excellent communication skills. I have work for various customer service companies which has brought out my natural strength of handling human relationships. Which could prove beneficial when interacting with customers.

As an undergraduate at the University of Mississippi I was a teaching assistant for a College Skills class and also a year long tutor at Oxford High School in pre-algebra. After graduating from the University of Mississippi I lived in Seoul, South Korea and taught students ages 5-11 English as a Second Language, including math and social studies. Upon returning to the United States I began working on my master's degree in TESL and I've also had the opportunity to teach 3 credit bearing college courses from 2009 to current. I am qualified to tutor pre-calculus and science as I received an associate of science degree where I completed Calculus II, Organic Chemistry and Genetics. I love working with all ages and generally prefer English as a Second Language students, but I enjoy working with everyone. I began my college career in the Institute of Technology at the University of Minnesota. During my five semesters in the program I was able to study calculus and physics. I am familiar with high school level physics and mathematics up to and including pre-calculus. After five semesters at the University I transferred to St. Cloud State University to study economics. I honed my statistical and grammatical skills by writing research papers there. During my time at St. Cloud State University I tutored at St. Cloud Technical and Community College. For three semesters there I tutored students in math up to pre-calculus (including trigonometry), statistics, economics, and physics.
