I was also a member of a team that provided training to Nestle employees globally on a regular basis. 1968-1980: Taught Chemistry (College Level) at the University of the East in the Philippines and at Los Angeles Valley College (Community College) in Los Angeles. MBA, BS prepared professional looking to tutor

My primary goal is to help students understand the "why" of studies. "Why" do we look for differentials in calculus? "Why" do we describe imagery in poetry instead of just saying how we feel? "Why" do we enter compound keys in some SQL tables but not others? "Why" do we need a conclusion on our essay? If we understand why we do something, we are far more likely to remember how to do it. I also strive to keep the homework the work of the student. They do the work, I guide them to the correct (or at least best) answer. Students are more likely to remember how to complete the problem if they are in the driver seat, not the tutor.

I am currently teaching English as a Second Language in the Davenport Schools.I have taught in Iowas and in Florida..grades k-adult (English and Spanish)! I tutor Englsih and Spanish in my free time! I have at least 8 years experience teaching, and grew up in a home where we spoke two languages!! I have worked with students from a variety of nationalities ranging from level one English speakers to Advanced level speakers!
