Turning your weakness into your strength

I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.
I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. Physics is one of my top subjects! I took the AP Physics exam in tenth grade and got a five on it. I have also done extensive extracurricular studying of physics. I know classical mechanics, classical electrodynamics, special relativity and quantum mechanics well, and am familiar with quantum field theory.

I gained my first tutoring experience by explaining difficult concepts to classmates that were struggling. I have been a tutor on WyzAnt for about half a year now. I have tutored math and physics students both at the high school and college level. All of the students that I worked with rated my lessons positively.
From my tutoring experience I have noticed that most students who have trouble understanding a difficult concept do so because they did not understand a more basic prerequisite concept, so I try to help students "fill in the gaps." My comments on tutoring Physics : Took Newtonian physics and electro-magnetic physics (calc based, however algebraic expressions can be derived from calculus therefore well experienced in the algebraic physics as well.)

I am a Mechanical Engineering and Geology dual major with a 3.6 GPA. I understand mathematics very well and have tutored fellow students in math and physics, successfully for years. A Little Bit About Me...

While I was an undergraduate at Marshall University, I was asked by my thesis professor to help out in the tutoring center provided by the college of math. While I was there I helped students with their math courses ranging from college algebra to upper levels of calculus and differential equations. Being a learning disabled student myself, I have learned that not all students retain information the same. I feel this gives me an upper hand on techniques to get students to learn.
As of right now I do not have my teaching certicifate, however, I do plan on going back to school to get my certificate. When I was tutoring I had to multi-task between students. At first, the task was difficult but I eventually got used to it.
