I utilize elements of each of the five teaching styles; however, I prefer the I Do, We Do, You Do style of learning. I firmly believe in providing clear instruction and demonstration of each concept. Then, the student and I work together to master a concept. After that, I provide the student an opportunity to practice and demonstrate his/her mastery of the material in a variety of situations. If the student still needs help, I reteach. I believe in positive reinforcement. Every student can succeed. No one succeeds if he/she feels unimportant or unsuccessful. I earned both of my degrees while working and caring for very young children. I feel this was possible because of my time management skills and determination to see a task through to completion. I have worked in the accounting or banking industry for over thirty years and truly love working with numbers. I fell in love with accounting in high school, finishing the semester project in about a month and a half and never looked back. I have always been driven to achieve the impossible! After having my first daughter at the age of 15, I realized how important an education really is. I am happy to say that I will be obtaining my degree from Ole Miss and are continuing to strive for every goal. Meaning, I will be attending Graduate school in the fall. During my years at Alabama State University, I helped numerous of my colleagues with all levels of Math. Even though I earned my degree in Accounting, I have always been excellent in all Math classes. I have been tutoring Math since I was in high school and have helped a lot of people understand different Math processes easier.
I enjoy tutoring or showing someone how to solve a Math problem but, I know some will understand quickly than others. I have great patience working with children and helping them understand the true concepts to solving a problem. My unique teaching style is to get the children to think about Math in there everyday life and compare it to something they are familiar with. I will not stop until I feel that they have established a better understanding for the subject.
