A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Towson University, Towson, Maryland in 2010 and since then I am working as a research technician in University of Maryland, Baltimore in a genomic lab conducting research in DNA replication initiation. I am also working with micro arrays. Although I do not have any teaching experience I am confident than with the knowledge that I acquired through my degree and work experience, I can guide students towards success. Also, when I was back home (I am originally from Nepal) I used to tutor my friends of the same class or grade. Also, while in college we studied in a group. While doing so I found myself so influencing to my friends while we share knowledge. So, this time I thought I can give my talent a try and start teaching as a real tutor. In the other hand, I strongly believe that no student requires a tutor. Each student is a tutor to himself. It is in the best part of ... read more

Equipping, Movtivating & Stimulating Minds!

When teaching, I take the time to learn my students' personalities and strengths. Then, I tailor a strength-based approach to teaching my students new concepts and ideas. I usually incorporate a mixture of traditional and non-traditional teaching techniques in my lesson plans. I provide structured opportunities and supports for my students to apply what they have learned. I also challenge my students to take ownership of their own learning process by incorporating leadership development and civic engagement activities into my lesson plans.
I help others become their best selves. I enjoy teaching and tutoring youth and adults. Over the years, I have had opportunities to not only mentor and tutor youth, but to teach and tutor adults, as well. At your pace, on your level

I adjust to the student/learner as I am told or discover their learning preferences. However, in my experience and research, I have noticed that active learning and discovery-based learning are arguably most effective mechanisms for knowledge retention. Therefore, I make considerable efforts to implement these styles into my teaching.
I have always been passionate about communications and teaching. I began tutoring mathematics in High School and during my undergraduate schooling I mentored and tutored introductory university level physics, calculus, chemistry, and organic chemistry. I am currently in graduate school at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine studying Molecular Biology and Genomics but remain informally interested in mathematics and physics.

A Little Bit About Me...

Three years experience as the leading classroom teacher, mixed classroom of students with varying needs and requirements. Taught most subjects, concentrated on middle school/ high school math and science. I also have experience working with young adults on the autism spectrum, focused on academic and life skills, basic computer applications and finding employment in their communities.
After an informal and or formal assessment with the student a learning preference may be identified. Depending on the goals and objectives of the student a schedule can then be implemented to support the student's growth in a particular subject matter and hopefully support larger overall learning objectives.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am very enthusiastic and extremely passionate with regard to my subject and student(s). I work well with all types of learners because I see mathematics as a puzzle being put together with multiple corresponding pieces. My students are encouraged to see me as a facilitator --one who does not spoon feed, but instead extracts information as part of an investigative mode of thinking and learning. I am into the "why" and not just the "how" of mathematics; therefore, I tend to ask probing questions, especially during formative assessments. Because I remain teachable and eager to learn, my students follow my model. I love to incorporate technology in my instruction, including "Smartboard" technologies.
Since earning my M.Ed. in Urban Education in 1999, I have had the mindset to push as many students as I am able to, to the top. I have an Advanced Certificate K-8 and have held a st ... read more
